Plumeria is an attractive and exotic, deciduous plant, with large, shiny green leaves. It is best known for its showy clusters of waxy flowers produced over a long period which have a wonderful tropical aroma. Sometimes called ‘Temple Trees’, the Frangipani is grown throughout the tropics, and in Hawaii their long-lasting flowers are used in Leis.
• PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
• In Garden -
Plant Plumeria cutting 1/2 way into quality, well draining garden soil, then water. PLEASE DO NOT OVER WATER. Fairly drought tolerant during dormant months. Regular watering and occasional fertilization during growing season will help to grow large, strong plants, with more flowers.
*Some initial protection from intense sun will give your plants the best chance for a healthy, happy start in their new home.
• In Container -
Fill a 1 gal pot with 1 part perlite - 1 part well draining potting mix.
Make a hole 1/2 as deep as your cutting is long and slightly larger than the diameter of your cuttings into the pot. Insert the cutting into the hole. Gently firm the soil.
Stake to keep the cutting upright and moderately water. After initial watering, it is very important to allow the soil to dry to an inch below the surface before subsequent watering. Place your potted cutting in a warm location and move gradually to full sun after a week or two.
